I CAN BREATHE NOW!
I actually don't know what to do with life right now, I'm so relieved HAHA
Well, I *warmed up* on my old amus piano, and I was melting by the time it was 3...yet my hands were freezing :( I figured I should just sit outside the exam room and uselessly flip through my general knowledge notes, so I did...
The examiners were really nice, told me to start and play through like a recital
1) Bach was near-perfect, considering it's the first piece and exam pressure I think I did it really well
2) Mozart...I've never been 100% happy with Mozart in my life, and this time wasn't an exception unfortunately - I hit the right notes and got the style but it still felt funny =/ maybe was a bit rushed or something
3) Had a memory loss in my Chopin Ballade, but to a dumb listener nobody could tell...I just went back to another place and started over haaahah
4) Aaaand yeah Debussy was close enough to perfect as well :D
OMG I PSYCHED MYSELF OUT FOR GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SERIOUSLY! I ANSWERED EVERYTHING THEY ASKED ME HAHA. And if I had to think about the question, I just drank water and nodded my head HAHA. So they asked (while this is fresh in my brain):
1) What's interesting about the key signatures in this prelude and fugue?
2) Tell me about the Well Tempered Clavier
3) Where was Bach when he wrote these?
4) Name some other works by Bach.
5) Go through some of the significant key changes/structure of this fugue
6) What is an episode and do episodes have to have stretto?
7) Show me an example of an inversion and what is a retrograde?
8) Where is the 2nd subject in the Mozart?
9) Go through some of the key changes.
10) What other multi-movement works did Mozart write?
11) Tell me about the word "Ballade"
12) What do you think are the 2 significant themes in the Ballade?
13) What are some other multi-movement works Chopin composed?
14) What's interesting about his Fantasies? (DIDN'T KNOW THIS COS MY BIG MOUTH LISTED FANTASIES LOL)
14) Did Chopin write any piano sonatas? (I said no...pretty sure the answer is yes HAHA)
15) Who are some of Chopin's contemporaries?
16) Are these *points at a random...flourish...of...improv-ish notes* commonly used by Chopin?
17) Tell me about Debussy's "Estampes"
18) What are some other works composed by Debussy?
19) How many books did Debussy write for Images? (AGAIN, MY BIG MOUTH...I GUESSED 1 BOOK HAHA...WRONG)
The only few questions that got me was a key change in my Chopin (freakin accidentals everywhere confused me) and "how many books did Debussy write for Images" HOW WAS I MEANT TO KNOW LOL I HAVEN'T PLAYED IT? And "tell me about the Chopin Fantasies" AGAIN, I'VE NEVER PLAYED IT?
So I guess overall I'm really happy with how I did - better than the recitals I've given over the past 6 months
SO I WILL BE BEYOND FREAKIN PISSED IF I FAIL THIS THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(oh if anyone who googles "lmus" for advice, feel free to leave a comment - I was annoyed during my "lmus advice" google sessions that I couldn't find anything...hahaha)
xo
word of the day...no word of the day today, WHO CARES!!!!!!!!!!!
