top class 08

On the way to Top Class, I called Erika 10-20 times and she never picked up - I was panicking because she was meant to be with me and she missed the train and I DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO GET TO IWAKI AUDITORIUM LOL

Thank shishkebabs my phone had GPS haha...I found my way there, sat like a loner for ages and attempted to find Biro, but when I got out of my chair, Erika FINALLY rocked up

Top Class is the concert for all the top VCE music performers from 2008, and it was SO cool! It started with a percussionist, which I hadn't really heard as a solo before...then there were violins, classical voices, cellos, saxophones, pianos and finally a harp. There was one singer who sang the FUNNIEST song ever...

"And lovely Lisa, where are you Lisa?
You gave a new meaning to the Leaning Tower of Pisa"

COMPLETE WITH ACTIONS HAHAHAHA! (song is titled Where Is the Life That Late I Led)

I also had my last theory class ever (yayayay...I think) so my money is stocked up for now, and my Saturday evenings are free! The kids were all "byebye table....byebye fish..." at the end of the class, which was cute haha

and now, to tackle the homework!

I cannot believe I wrote a whole blog about grass.

So over the summer holidays, our school oval got dug up and a massive tank of recyled water (like a million litres or whatever...) was shoved under it - so they had to re-lay the turf and keep it beautiful, which is an absolute miracle, considering the weather. We've had yellow/straw grass for years, and it's actually the weirdest thing ever to see green grass...

After a week or 2 of the grass being maintained (check out the random clump near the bottom)

AFTER BEING MOWED THIS WEEK OMFG ITS ACTUALLY PERFECT!!!!!!!!

And after assembly this morning, we were called out to the oval steps (I thought our whole school was in trouble LOL) and the principal said she wanted US to be the first people to run across it...so the school captains cut the ribbon and our entire school went charging across the oval :D it's actually incredible...the grass is so soft and long enough to bury the sole of your shoe - my shoes got grassed up

And the Jap classroom smelt like wet/warm grass, ughh...it felt so mouldy and horrible in comparison to the actual beautiful, perfect green grass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CHORALS 09

WE CAME LAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hahahahahahhaha

WE WON THE DANCE THOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M SO HAPPY THAT WE WON *SOMETHING*

I was gunna say the order of the houses that won, but I know some of you freaks out there will google it and figure out what school I go to :) So, for my sake - Erika's house won (of course), Biro got best conductor and Anne got a special mention from the adjudicator cos she's fricken awesome :D Steff got best pianist and her house came 2nd...I LOVED their original, it was about teenagers (I want to party//myspace is out, facebook is in//ROFL and ell oh ell, we love emoticons//etc) HILARIOUS!!!!!! Anne's original won though, it was amaaaaaaaazingggggggggg obviously...

I think I'm gonna start writing the original now....so we're ready for 2010!! haha

TOMORROW

HOLY COW

HOUSE CHORALS IS TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Set song (Feed the Birds) - fine. not better than the other houses, but it's good enough
Original song (The Gods of Funk) - ............................will work on that tomorrow

Dance - haven't seen any of the dances?

Instrumental - should be fine. We don't have a full orchestra, but at least we have creativity and it counts as entertainment

Special (Hercules)
The Gospel Truth - 2nd best one we have. My accompaniment is dodgy but it'll do
Zero to Hero - our best song, hopefully the ending and my conducting doesn't fck up
Go the Distance - WE DON'T KNOW THE WORDS!! AND THE ENDING SUCKS!!
A Star is Born - needs energy. We sound like zombies, and my accompaniment sounds like puke, but if people get into it (including the audience) we should fudge over it with no problems

George Torbay from Battle of the Choirs is the adjudicator; Mell is considering baking him a basket of muffins to bribe him. GOOD IDEA!!

Together for Victoria

Yesterday - Rehearsal photos

My bell station :)

Cameras directly next to me (which is why you probably didn't see me on telly)

The view I had from my station - I was positioned in the best spot out of all 9 of us, poor Sara was behind the stage and hung with the choir

Lights projecting pretty things onto the roof

Annabelle and our awesome school choir + barnesy lmao

Ian Henderson on the right (he's so short! newsdesks are decieving haha) and Larry on the left who co-ordinated the ENTIRE show in a week - something that usually takes 3 months to arrange!! Also as a bit of trivia for you guys, the guy who scored the orchestration did it in TWO DAYS!!! That stuff would take me two years to do...

Bruce & Clare Woodley, and Merelyn and David Carter singing I Am Australian - we were all crying and this was just the REHEARSAL! I've recorded this on my phone and if anyone wants it, gimme a buzz and I'll work out how to get it OFF my phone haha

Our wristbands (yes I chewed the excess off with my teeth...)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Today was an amazing experience - I cried like a massive sop, but I'm pretty sure everyone in the entire arena were crying endlessly. Lucy started the show off, the audience had started to ring their little bells a bit early but it sounded SO perfect anyway. I was standing there thinking CRAP I'm crying already and it's just bells going off!! The national anthem was AMAZING, I cried during Hallelujah, I got MASSIVE shivers during One Voice and I nearly cried in I Am Australian, but I held it back and sung along. The lamest thing was in the closing song (Touch) - it was such a GRAB-A-RANDOM-AND-DANCE moment EXCEPT I WAS HANGING OUT BY MYSELF WITH NOBODY TO DANCE WITH :(

After the event, a lady walked behind me and saw a firefighter and got incredibly emotional - the firefighter was SO humble, such a true hero. Many were in the audience, along with the PM, MP's, Princess Anne, UN officials, religious figures etc etc (Anne and Georgie were ringing the bell after they spoke, I totally got inapprpriately overexcited about that...) and it kinda felt like everyone in the audience had equal importance and right to be there, or maybe that's just what I felt :) It was really lovely to have people thank us afterwards, it just felt like we were doing a small bit to bring some peace to everyone who has been affected :)

I'm sure most of you caught it on TV or online - if not, I know it'll be up on the premiers site some time soon and most likely on youtube. Catch highlights on the news today!

I have never welcomed the weekend so happily.

Chorals instrumental is sounding pretty awesome now, just imagine a peaceful classical piece with pot hitting, bin bashing, triangle dinging, rice shakers and basketball sounds happening over the top of it :)

Tomorrow is the whole day rehearsal for the bell ringing at the memorial service - we had a brief rehearsal and it sounds BEAUTIFUL, I can't wait until we get to perform it with MSO! I've also gotta rush to a Victorian Opera performance of Carmina Burana and Bluebeard straight after, so I have no idea how I'll fit weekend homework into the space of 2 hours

exhausted, still

I don't even know why I'm awake right now, I have another chorals instrumental rehearsal tomorrow morning...

We had a full-on, 2 and a half hourish rehearsal today for House Chorals - which consisted of Ms Barnes telling us we sounded boring

GREAT.

Seeing as people were panicking that the performance is ONE WEEK AWAY and we still need to learn some pieces, the 2 and a half hours we had were THE most productive ever. My arms ache from conducting and my brain hurts from playing improv'd accompaniment...ugh

HOWEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

The fire memorial ceremony, held at Rod Laver Arena which is to be broadcasted across all the main tv channels across the country, will be on Sunday at 11am - gates to Rod Laver Arena open at 8:30am and public transport will be FREE that day from 9-3:30 so if that's not excuse enough for you to be there, I don't know what is...

I'LL BE IN IT :D along with 8 other people, and we're ringing bells or something o.o but dang, I can't believe I'm gonna be on TV and to be a part of an amazing and memorable experience - *is speechless*

exhausted

I was actually up at an obscure enough hour to see the sunrise - which, due to the fire/smoke, also glows a weird colour

House chorals instrumental rehearsal this morning, which turned into a planning session since we decided to scrap "Under the Sea" and do a Stomp sorta thing, twisted with classical music somehow :D We also started (yes, we're still starting to learn songs and chorals is 8 days away) "I Can Go the Distance" and I attempted conducting, which is so intimidating for some reason...

I'm actually gunna go to bed now - I'm totally drained from playing piano. I have lessons on Monday, which means when the lesson is over I can go home, relax and watch Desperate Housewives. I REALLY needed that break today, especially after the spesh test (NO MATHS TODAY :D) but Jacky used her guilt-tripping tone and made me go through one of my pieces until I got it once right with no mistakes =__= With the first recital happening on Sunday, my practice schedule this week looks like this

Run through 4 pieces (takes 40 mins)
Play one of the pieces 3 times without any mistakes
Run through 4 pieces again

x 6 days

YOU KNOW HOW MUCH TIME AND ENERGY THAT TAKES?? 2 run throughs would take almost an hour and a half, plus actual PRACTICING would take an hour or more - I DON'T HAVE THAT MUCH TIME IN A DAY!!!!!!!!! + SCHOOL, HOMEWORK AND CHORALS MEANS I'M ON THE GO ALL THE TIME

I'm gonna hate this week :(

OUT :D

OMFG I WENT OUT TODAY

I feel like I haven't been out in AGES...which is true actually, haven't really had time since school started :( Went with D and Erika to see "He's Just Not That Into You" which was cute, but would be awkward to watch it with a fiancee or something haha

I spent way too much money, but it FELT GOOD. I finally caved in and bought that $36 Revlon foundation, + things I needed like nail polish remover, blackhead strips, wax etc etc (you didn't have to know that...hm) and four pens :P Cos I'm a massive nerd and I used up one of them in 3 weeks...

It's meant to say Snoopy, but since it was from some cheap asian place, it says "Snook" =/

We visited Emma at work, which totally made her heart jump around for 5 minutes :P Then we went out of our way (again) to have the soft-serve yoghurt at Igloo Zoo :D I had pomegranate flavoured with strawberries and goji berries covered in chocolate YUMYUMYUMYUM

....SPESH TEST TOMORROW DIE DIE DIE

xo

vanletine's day

What a joke...I did spesh all day (kindof)

Test on Monday :( I can't even do the first multiple choice revision question...I SWEAR we haven't learnt it but hey, I bet the rest of the nerd class can do it =__=

Everyone in the class is in it because they're 1) SMART or 2) Have no choice due to some stupid rule that you can't skip a maths subject for a whole year

I fall under category 2

and I think I'm the only one who does

Here ends my love affair with Specialist maths...LIKE IT EVER BEGAN

casual clothes day :D

The air smells like smoke over here today...the sky is a dodgy colour and the sun casts a bright red glow on everything...

We had casual clothes day today :D and raised almost $10,000 for the bushfires, and 3 truckfuls of clothing. MASSIVE effort!! It was meant to be just a gold coin donation, but obviously people went really far...I gave in $5, someone gave in $20 and an international student donated $50 D: There was a story on the news about a little country school with 200 people and they raised $4000, which was almost stolen by looters who are going through the fire wreck and trying to steal anything undamaged :(

Ironically we had an emergency fire drill practice...I was hoping it would just be a code-blue lockdown drill coz the usual assemble place (the oval) was being re-turfed and the sprinklers were on. We ended up having to cram the ENTIRE school onto 2 tennis courts, which sucked...there were bees and it was bloody hot :(

and ready to abaaaaaaaaaaate and ready to abaaaaaate etc etc

Omfg auditions.

Em & I practiced just before going in, Viv had to run from her lesson and was therefore out of breath...you poor thing haha

OK SO WE FOUND OUT ON THE SPOT THAT WE DON'T SING IN GROUPS - IT WAS SOLO WITH ACCOMPANIMENT X____X and my singing skills are equivalent to that of a giraffes, so not cool for me

Emma was a bit out of time, Viv hit her first note amazingly wrong, and I couldn't even hear myself sing the high bit

However I think we all got in the chorus :D Viv will probs get a part...

I SHOULD HAVE GONE AFTER VIV. SHE WAS AWESOME x___x BOTH THE SINGING AND THE ACTING

I think I misinterpreted the script and made the woman sound like she was being sarcastic...she was meant to be really pissed off I think LOL, Viv aced it...girl, you are LOUD (Y)

xo
(...I also got myself into conducting the special item for house chorals. I've never conducted in my life D:)

audition tomorrow

In my 12 years of schooling, I've never auditioned for anything except for orchestra/wind symphony last year, which was practically a given anyway cos I'd been in it for so many years =/

I've been in stacks of productions................ in my junior school years

I've been in stacks of musicals................. in the band

This year being the 2nd last year of school, everyone's cramming in every school activity possible - Viv K is in dance (lawl, sexy britney dance), Emma's diving and I'm...auditioning for the musical LOL

I'll probably end up jsut being in the chorus, but at least I can say I went through high school having sung in a musical production!!

bushfire 2

Death toll now 176 :(

We had a service in period 5 abotu the fires, prayers etc and notices about this Friday being Casual Clothes Day as a fundraiser + food/clothing/toiletries/stationary donations for everyone

Got back to school yesterday and everyone was worried for Teigan cos she lives in Narre, but the fires were in Narre South (where Corey lives :P) so she was okay but the firetrucks drove past her

This is totally irrelevant but I've developed 2 bad habits - 1 being sucking on my retainer and making popping sounds (it's gross BUT I CAN'T HELP IT) and the 2nd being eating my lip balm off (cos it tastes like strawberry yuuuuuuum), yet being obsessed with buying more lip balms and keeping one in every room (I have not yet fulfilled that mission though)

oh, and I'm addicted to frozen grapes.

xo
(ps - hilarious quote from music teacher - "in the 800's, perfect 4ths and 5ths sounded beautiful, but a 3rd was like OMG THE DEVIL'S HERE")

bushfire

65 people were killed in the bushfires today...that's more than Ash Wednesday 20ish years ago

Hope everyone out there in the rural areas is coping alright, it's a terrible thing to lose your home, but staying safe is the most important thing...God bless :)

heatwave

46 degrees today x______________________________x

Stayed home all day, finished off most of my homework and I'm currently attacking what's left of Chem while my theory students are toiling away at their work. I GOT MY PAY FROM JESS :D :D hahaha yay for being $120 richer...and I shall be getting another $120 next week woohoo!

I feel sorry for the people who had Chinese School this morning...and I feel sorry for my friends going to sundown fest, hopefully the weather won't ruin the fun too much, coz it's cooling down a lot now but REALLY windy D:

laa

Firstly - think it's totally unfair that I have double spesh maths on thursdays, and NO SPARE ON THAT DAY D: and that 2 out of my 3 spares this week fall on period 1, on days when I DON'T have maths. WTF kinda homework is one meant to have first thing in the morning??

anyhoo

EEEE after school, Min and Amanda came over for a bit before we went off to our English class...baby Belle was at our place :D :D omfg she's 2 months now and she can smile...sooooooooooooooooo efffffffffffffiiinnnnnnnn cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuteeeeeeee. I can't wait til she can walk and talk!! Or until she's my age. Bet all them boys will be drooling after her, she's already so goddamn beautiful. DAMN YOU HALF-ASIAN BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE! haha

FML

1) Needed to pee as soon as class started, so I dumped my books in the classroom (teacher wasn't there yet) and ran off to find a toilet. I ran upstairs to the first set of toilets which were BOTH out of order. Ran around to the other side to the next set of toilets which for some reason were no longer toilets and is now just a bench. Finally ran to the end of that corridor to reach the toilets

So if that was confusing, something like this

I ran where the purple arrows are. I could've just run the red arrow =__=

2) As soon as I got back to class, my books were in the room but the room was locked. The chem teaching, who is one of the scariest teachers in the school (I reckon) got out her scary tone at me/us (rah, I spoke up and took the blame) for coming into the lab without her being there - "it's against the law!!"

3) Spesh maths - the day I decide not to finish my homework, the day the teacher checks our books :( Lucky I'd done most of it already, but stiiiiiiill I hate it when that kinda thing happens...

4) I have next weeks assembly solo performance. The piece I'm performing hasn't been touched since last November.

5) House Chorals - we have 1 set song, 4 special item songs, 1 original song, 1 acting script, 1 instrumental and 1 dance to learn...IN FOUR WEEKS. Goodbye lunchtimes, mornings, afterschools and sleep.

6) Homework
Chem - Ch1 Q1-13, 16, 17, 19, 21, 22, 24, Read pg 6, 9, 13, 14 to 25, Ch2 pg 18 Q1, pg 23 Q3-9
Spesh maths - 2C Q3abcdef, 2D Q even numbers, 2E Odd numbers
Psych - some table about a bunch of famous people...

FML!!!!!!!!!!!

BUT :D tomorrow's class = Jap and English. NO HOMEWORK FROM EITHER SUBJECTS :D :D :D PLUS, VCE SUBJECT FORM FILLING OUT IN PERIOD 5 AND YEAR 12 INDUCTION PERIOD 6

BLUDGE DAAY

HATE GEN MATHS

NO SURPRISE THERE

SON OF A SUBJECT

RAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

The stupid thing is, all we're doing is revision - which consists of indices, linear equations and simultaneous equations

THIS SHIT I'VE BEEN DOING SINCE I WAS IN YEAR 9!!!

AND I STILL CAN'T DO IT!!!!!!!

I guess this so-called revision is the extreme end of those topics - ridiculous questions with lowest common denominators such as 168 =______________= I can barely multiply by 2, let alone 168 goddamnnnnnnnnnnnn

I've been doing this for 2 hours and I still have 11 questions to go - which will probably take me another 2 hours :( I should learn not to procrastinate by wasting my life on this site...

btw at lunch today - we had a massive sex stories session which was so odd and I felt like I was eavesdropping/not meant to know what some of the people in my year level get up to O.O Except they had no problem bragging about it, which I dunno if is a good thing or not...at the end of it all, someone pointed out that the mature people don't get up to that stuff (at this age...I mean wtf I would happily play with barbies still), and the immature people who THINK they're mature do it. Correct?

Now I shall continue stabbing methods

Sorry not methods...gen maths

I PREFER METHODS!!! GIMME BACK METHODS!!!!!!! PLEAAAAASE

organisation WIN

Got my notebooks and folder for school today :D yes I know school already started but nobody has to know I had no stationary on the first day...

I can't believe a simple/boring/ugly Spirax branded 4 subject notebook was $10.95 O.O I picked up 4 plastic folders for like $2 and my dang notebook was almost $11....

That's nearly $3 per 70 pages D:

In other news, MIN GOT A MACBOOK :D :D I'm jealous that she has OS X leopard but to be honest I like my white plastic one over her new aluminium one :) The aluminium heats up reaaaallly fast =/

Also had a piano lesson, I can't believe I'm gonna have to memories 4 pieces in 3 weeks...then memorise another 5 pieces for VCE music WTFFFFFF

xo
(linda - nah it's my friend's cousin Ben...I have NO idea what happened to the Ben that's my age, I haven't seen him since we were annoying 12 year olds..)
