L FRICKEN MUSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HECK YES!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I CAN BREATHE NOW!

I actually don't know what to do with life right now, I'm so relieved HAHA

Well, I *warmed up* on my old amus piano, and I was melting by the time it was 3...yet my hands were freezing :( I figured I should just sit outside the exam room and uselessly flip through my general knowledge notes, so I did...

The examiners were really nice, told me to start and play through like a recital
1) Bach was near-perfect, considering it's the first piece and exam pressure I think I did it really well
2) Mozart...I've never been 100% happy with Mozart in my life, and this time wasn't an exception unfortunately - I hit the right notes and got the style but it still felt funny =/ maybe was a bit rushed or something
3) Had a memory loss in my Chopin Ballade, but to a dumb listener nobody could tell...I just went back to another place and started over haaahah
4) Aaaand yeah Debussy was close enough to perfect as well :D

OMG I PSYCHED MYSELF OUT FOR GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SERIOUSLY! I ANSWERED EVERYTHING THEY ASKED ME HAHA. And if I had to think about the question, I just drank water and nodded my head HAHA. So they asked (while this is fresh in my brain):
1) What's interesting about the key signatures in this prelude and fugue?
2) Tell me about the Well Tempered Clavier
3) Where was Bach when he wrote these?
4) Name some other works by Bach.
5) Go through some of the significant key changes/structure of this fugue
6) What is an episode and do episodes have to have stretto?
7) Show me an example of an inversion and what is a retrograde?
8) Where is the 2nd subject in the Mozart?
9) Go through some of the key changes.
10) What other multi-movement works did Mozart write?
11) Tell me about the word "Ballade"
12) What do you think are the 2 significant themes in the Ballade?
13) What are some other multi-movement works Chopin composed?
14) What's interesting about his Fantasies? (DIDN'T KNOW THIS COS MY BIG MOUTH LISTED FANTASIES LOL)
14) Did Chopin write any piano sonatas? (I said no...pretty sure the answer is yes HAHA)
15) Who are some of Chopin's contemporaries?
16) Are these *points at a random...flourish...of...improv-ish notes* commonly used by Chopin?
17) Tell me about Debussy's "Estampes"
18) What are some other works composed by Debussy?
19) How many books did Debussy write for Images? (AGAIN, MY BIG MOUTH...I GUESSED 1 BOOK HAHA...WRONG)

The only few questions that got me was a key change in my Chopin (freakin accidentals everywhere confused me) and "how many books did Debussy write for Images" HOW WAS I MEANT TO KNOW LOL I HAVEN'T PLAYED IT? And "tell me about the Chopin Fantasies" AGAIN, I'VE NEVER PLAYED IT?

So I guess overall I'm really happy with how I did - better than the recitals I've given over the past 6 months

SO I WILL BE BEYOND FREAKIN PISSED IF I FAIL THIS THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(oh if anyone who googles "lmus" for advice, feel free to leave a comment - I was annoyed during my "lmus advice" google sessions that I couldn't find anything...hahaha)

what thee

I wake up from sleep and so many people died o.o

Michael Jackson, obviously is the one that everyone's talking about...I thought that guy was invincible :( Sunrise at 6:30 said he had a heart attack, then in the amount of time it took for me to get to school, he had died .____.

It's because of him that we obsess over learning how to moonwalk in yr 10, and it's because of him that our music world is the way it is :)

I'm still in denial...wasn't until the 6pm news that I actually started to believe it =/ it's like Princess Diana or Steve Irwin all over again hey?

RIP

wablup

Leah: ...so yeah, Adam ate the apple...and God was like OH MY GOD!

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAA

So I haven't blogged in a while, and I'm pretty much up to my eyebrows in pianopianopiano...had a few mental breakdowns since last Friday when I trialled the piano for the 2nd time at AMEB.

IT. IS. DISGUSTING. I got so angry I couldn't play anything, then bawled my eyes out

Then the next day I had a piano lesson and basically I was too tense/angry and it was restricting my sound, so all I had to do was relax haaaha. Thing is, when you start crying over something (even if it's pointless) you JUST CAN'T STOP. So I was sitting there crying (again), and the freakin plumber had to check some pipes and I was hyperventilating at the piano the entire time...THEN AFTERWARDS MUM DECIDED TO GO SHOE SHOPPING SO I WAS REDEYED AND BLOTCHYFACED FOR THE NEXT 2 HOURS LOL. But I love going to sleep after being worn out from crying...it's a nice feeling to close burning eyelids :D

So now I've calmed down from my mid...life...crisis :P and I have piano lessons every other day leading up to the exam in 5 days =| I'm giving up on house sport tomorrow so I don't injure myself (because my likeliness of injury is increased by 500% when I move faster than a walking speed), and I've sacrificed my Friday night for piano :( if I was free I'd be prepping Min for Scotch formal...and I think her+Lisa+Erika are going to some club/bar afterwards, cos Min doesn't wanna go to a whitepeopleafterparty. And if their IDs fail then LATE NIGHT MOVIE

I'M SO JEALOUS! I WANT OUT OF THE HOUSEEEE

soon

RESULTS PART 2

Not exactly "results" since I realised I got all my exams back yesterday except one

So I got an A for Psych :D apparently the exam was so hard that people got scaled up...85% was an A+ O__O

I GOT 83% LOL ANNOYINGG!!

Originally it was 81, but I pointed out that one of my answers was directly from the book (pupil dilation = physiological response, teacher said pupil dilation is just cos of light change LOL) so I got 2 marks for that :D Very pissed at the fact that I (and Amanda) described deindividuality PERFECTLY, but failed to literally state the word "deindividuality" =__= Leah simply wrote the word, no definition and got the mark HAHA

ANYWAYS now I'm fussing over making my new exercise books look perfect...wooh!

RESULTS PART 1

English - A+! no marksheet came with it, so it's a bit suss...
GMA - 77% / B+
Chem - 86% / A
Jap - 84% / A

HOW THE BLOODY HELL DID I GET AN A+ FOR ENGLISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will hand the essay in to Robyn to make sure the teacher wasn't hallucinating/playing favourites

GMA, meh yaysies

Chem, got what i expected, maybe even better

Jap IS LOL...the teacher fully bagged the crap out of the entire class and I thought I'd bomb out, the way she was talking about the exam...she took off 0.2 and 0.3 marks instead of the conventional half/1 mark...not sure if I'm complaining though hahaha

music'd out

Got up seriously early (okay, 8am) to watch the Piano Landmarks at Melba Hall :) 2 performers pulled out cos of sickness/injury, which was a shame because they had to change the programme :( I wanted to hear Bach's Goldberg Variations but the pianist was really sick...so I heard something random instead (Fantasie and Fugue I think)

But anyways, it was a major struggle to stay awake...not because it was boring, but because it was fricken early and I can't sit still for an hour and a half without moving =__=

Got a lift home with Megan, dropped her off at State and then listened to her mum bitch about her all the way home HAHA

Crammed in some lunch and went straight to Mrgeneralknowledgeman for some AHH SAVE MY LMUS ASS!!

He was exactly as he was on the phone - proud and extremeeeellly knowledgeable D: It was so hard keeping up!!

"That's the inversion of the 2nd chord of the relative major of the dominant"

O_________O!! REPEAT THAT SLOWLY!!

Fark. hahahaha...he's friends with my music teacher & knows my examiners...AND he's a VCE piano examiner so he had to get my student number D: he can't examine me cos he's taught me blahblah...

Also gave me a whole folder of notes...gotta do a lot of bedtime reading :(

He charges $70 an hour, went an hour overtime but said $70 was fine :D awesomeeee...the cheapass asian in my appreciates this very much!!!! + the notes...wooooh!

piano trial

Went to AMEB today to have a trial of my exam piano

HATE IT!

My style of performing is all about detail...I have the big picture well and truly sorted out, and for the past few months I've just been picking on the little things in my pieces

This fricken piano doesn't bring out the detail at all :( It's the kinda piano that is good for people who DON'T have detail, cos it kinda fudges the sound and makes everything echo (well maybe that's not the piano, it's probably the room)

The pedal makes it easier for noob-er people too, cos in some pieces you gotta control the pedal so it's only halfway...well this piano kinda has a "notch" so that you can feel when the pedal is halfway

BLEHH NOBODY UNDERSTANDS ME TALKING ABOUT THIS STUFF ANYWAY, I'LL JUST GO COMPLAIN TO A WALL HAHA

6/6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GAT LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Biggest joke everr, including the whole George Clooney prank

I kinda wish I did it :( but I couldn't weave him into either of the essays...the first one was a factual piece about bees, and the second one was about materialistic items =/ I tried so hard to shove him in the materialistic item one, so at least examiners will read "George Clooney" crossed out a few times in my essay hahaha...

Multiple choice was...whatever

SO ANYWAY, went shopping afterwards with mum, I found shoes AGAIN that were perfect BUT NOT IN MY SIZE WTF!!! :( Bought some bandaids and pawpaw cream...

Had Robyn's straight afterwards, listened to 2 oral presentations and then had a minigroup competition - which group was pro'est at explaining the topic they got (expository, persuasive and imaginative). I love that I got imaginative cos it's so abstract, and I got paired with Jo who's like the imaginativegod...we won :D chocolate I hope...

Also rang up Dr Myles about lmus general knowledge...I hope he doesnt go on the internet, cos he came across as really proud/arrogant =__= "I have 2 little children, my wife's a lecturer at melb uni, I'm a lecturer and melb uni, I never teach on Saturdays but I'll make an exception for you"

I DON'T CARE JUST HELP ME PASS MY LMUS LOL

GMA!!

FARK HAHA

Tech free was absolute FAIL...I tripped over the 1st and 2nd question =___= Pretty sure the first one is wrong...hahahaha

other mistakes that I THOUGHT I was doing correctly but after much discussion with my much nerdier friends, it turns out I was wrong:
1) Surd fraction...I was meant to multiply it by the conjugate, but I just multiplied top and bottom by the denominator haaaha...I got a nice simple number though, everyone else got crazy fractions =/
2) Variation graph - it was y and rootx, not y and x :( But a few other people made the same mistake as me
3) PROBABLY SOME ADDING OR SUBTRACTION ERROR SOMEWHERE IN THE REST OF THE PAPER =__=

It was out of 35...so if I lost 10 marks, it's pretty much a C+ or B...haha

Tech active was slightly better, I cut my finger really bad on my staple though...thank god for Viv and her icarryeverythingincase'ness, because she had a bandaid to stop the blood oozing out onto my exam haha :D

I probably screwed up on one of the percentage increase questions, but it was only a mark...

AND JESUS, THE FIRST ANALYSIS QUESTION...OKAY IM MAJORLY ANNOYED AT THIS

I wrote + 30 instead of + 0.5, because the question said 30 minutes...as in, half of an hour =___= so I made fricken Claire walk at 100m per hour... DAMNDAMNDAMN HAHA

Last question on the exam got me as well

Find all integer values of x for √2√2√2^x

Yeah...I just left it blank cos I didn't know how to use my calculator ahahha

STUFF IT ALL, EXAMS ARE OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! except for the GAT tomorrow (is everyone writing about George Clooney cos Facebook said so? And if Facebook says so, it must be true?)

CHEM

ok...well I psyched myself out for chem x___x It was nowhere near as hard as I expected, fricken practice exams KILLED me and I rock up to a pretty vague exam and I guess I scraped an A, A+ if I picked the right multiple choice answers hahahaaa

SO ITS OVER!! OVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

JAP

also psyched myself out for Jap, except I didn't study anywhere near as hard as I did for chem lmfao...it was pretty much 2 hours of "cramming" before the exam (ie, talking about how ugly Mary is from Pride&Prejudice BBC amoung other things)

The only thing I learnt?

magarimasu = to turn

How did I learn this? It sounds like margarita, and when you're drunk....you...turn

:)

The writing task was weird, it was a diary entry on the things you have done today until 2pm, so I made stuff up...sounded something like this -

Today, I woke up at 7am. I was cold and tired. For breakfast I ate fruit, toast and eggs and I drank milk. After that, I washed my face (or maybe I brushed my teeth...I wrote something but I didn't know what it meant, so for all I know I could've written that I polished my shoes...).
I went to school at 8am. I have a science test at 8:30. I hate tests, but this one wasn't hard. After that, I had a psychology test. Because want to become a psychologist, I really like psychology. But, the test was hard!
After lunch, I went home. Mum was shopping, so I had to take the train. I got home at 2pm. I listened to music while studying Japanese.
Today was boring.

YUP.

4 day long weekend!!!! Second cousin once removed (I think) is coming over from Sydney, and Annette has a raging fever (hope it's not swine flu) 2 days before her birthday party :( poor bugger..

PSYCH EXAM

it was okay...better than the English one I guess, cos there's a right and wrong answer, whereas English is kinda abstract

Exam was out of 100...and every question was 1 mark (a few were worth 2) so it was like "goodbye 1%....goodbye another 1%" every time I answered a question half-assed'ly :( The multiple choice was harder than I thought cos a lot of them had answers that all meant the same thing to me

And I defined "role" as "status" and I mixed up my developmental things with piaget's theories goddammmnn

OH WELL :D will have got an A at least...

and I hope I didn't jinx myself :(

tomorrow - chem and jap = EPIC AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH

word of the day as stolen from amanda...umm lemme think...well this one was on the exam

1/6

ENGLISH SUCKED

SUCKED SO BAD

EFF MY EFFING LIFE

I know I complain about failing all the time, but this time my essay was truly disgusting :(

"Pride and Prejudice demonstrates how money and status can impede the development of true love. Discuss." (some shit like that)

CAN'T IT BE SOMETHING PLAIN AND SIMPLE, OR AT LEAST BE A "DO YOU AGREE" QUESTION?? FAR OUT, I SAT THERE BULLSHITTING FOR AN HOUR, STATING THE OBVIOUS AND QUOTING IRRELEVENT THINGS, LIKE HOW CHARLOTTE IS "PLAIN"

GOD

flip side = lang analysis was okay

I bet it'll end up like last year - the pride and prej grade will be excellent and the lang analysis will be horrible, contrary to my own opinion =__=

I completely wasted today - should have studied for SOMETHING but no...procrastination :(
