2nd post, i know but this was on my mind so i thought i'd share :)
on the train ride from chadstone to melb central, we started talking about the whole "science vs religion" thing...how much of our lives can be proven with science and how much of our lives just can't be explained
think about this one - everyone thinks and everyone has thoughts right? but how exactly can you know its there? you can dissect your brain up and say which parts of you brain think what kinds of thoughts, you can scientifically analyse all the electrochemical blahblahs....but there is no way you can know exactly what is going through another person's mind. i can look at you and say that i know you're thinking....but HOW do i know that?!
its exactly the same as this (if you choose to believe it anyway) - there's a God out there somewhere, but how do we know that? to put it simply, we don't. those who have faith that there's a God out there will believe it, the same way as we have faith that we all have thoughts, even though it can't really be proven
also goes with the big bang theory - do you believe that there was once a universe that...err, sucked up into a black whole and exploded and ended up with such perfect density that a new universe was created? that thought scared the shits outta me...it sounds complex but imagine it this way - there used to be another universe, human mankind screwed it up so badly and it exploded, and we got the chance to start over again...though at this rate, we're gonna screw it up again and the universe will explode and the cycle begins again
ok, im starting to go round in circles and jot down things that only seem to make sense to me...but remember this - darkness is the absence of light, cold is the absence of heat and evil is the absence of God. i'm not religious, i'd call myself agnostic because there's just too much out there that can't be explained.
