survived first year!

Well at least I think I survived...

It's only been a week and I'm already bored...dare I say I already miss uni =/ I think I miss the structure, and going to uni at least made me feel like I had a reason to get up in the morning. Now I just don't know what to do with myself ahahha

More hate on work - I agreed to changed my Sunday 7-2:30 shift to Saturday 10-5:30, so I could have a later start. Turns out after doing 2 Saturdays, I'm told that I'm working 7-1 on Saturdays and there was nothing I could do about it. EXCUSE ME if I were to willingly start at 7am, I would prefer Sundays! At least I could do more hours...I was so angry I almost quit right there and then, but I calmed down and decided to wait til I come back from USA, find a new job, and then quit :D

BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY AND EXCITEDLY - AMERICA IN 9 DAYS!

All flights booked, all accommodation booked, all tours booked...Amtrak from NY to DC not yet booked but OH WELLLL! Hopefully will be a trip of a lifetime (not gonna lie, I'm a little scared about getting shot though.)

So for the next few days, I don't have much planned. Gotta submit my exchange application for "Fall 2012" (check me out with my american lingo hehe) and fingers crossed I get accepted. My preferences are Carnegie Mellon, McGill University and University of Pennslyvania...originally I had UCLA and etc as my first preference til I realised their neuroscience program was totally different from Melb uni and it was just alllllll wrong for me.

Anyway I'll try update more often, especially when I'm travelling. Will probably update before I go!

I thought I was more on top of things this semester...but no. Exams start in one week from today, and I have an assignment due in 6 days, and 4 solid days of studying left.

Why?

Because for some weird reason I have more shifts than ever before at the fruitshop, and I worked 15 hours last weekend...I offered to cover HALF an 8 hour shift on thursday, but for some reason they suck shit at maths, and have halved it to equal a 6 hour shift. EXCUSE ME, THAT'S NOT HALF! And asif you even tell me there's nobody to "cover" for me when I'm the nice one who is covering in the first place! The best they could give me was a 5.5 hour shift. Like 30 minutes would really make a difference, soo stupid...

Things have started to pick up in terms of general busyness as well, I applied for Aa committee midsemester intake (not alcoholics anonymous) and they took me! It's a nice extra responsibility, and really interesting to see how things work behind the scenes when I've been attending the events all year. So many added complexities with understanding how things work, discussing things on their email system and fb group, selling tickets for the end of exams party, retreat coming up soon... and look, it's my face on their website! LOL *feels special*. I thought it might be really hard to fit in with everyone, cos the committee all know each other/have their own jokes and such, but everyone's been really kind and welcoming of me and the other 2 new members. Looking forward to a big year :D

In between end of exams and going to america, I have 10 days to re-enrol for 2012, apply for overseas exchange, pack my suitcase, make a list of things to buy, and celebrate some birthdays and going away parties...I swear there's more, but that's al I can think of right now. I need to calm down and get crackin into the books :(

5 more weeks and I'll have officially gone through 1/3 of my first university degree D: Not feeling too stressed about exams right now, though there's still 3 more weeks of material to learn so...yeah we'll see .____.

IN MORE EXCITING NEWS! Susan and I have booked our flights to the USA :D Departing here on the 29th of November, we'll be hitting LA, San Fransisco, Florida and of course NEW YOOORK. So bloody excited! Will be finalising our itinerary tonight, and booking domestic flights and accomodation. GET READY TO HOP OFF A PLANE AT LAX WITH A DREAM AND MY CARDIGAN (AND SKI JACKET)

Well not quite. It's still bloody freezing, thanks Melbourne. BUT it's gonna warm up this weekend! Time to attempt breaking out the shorts yet again...

Anyway. This year is absolutely flying by :| This thought hit me when I realised the class of 2011 year 12's are graduating in around 4 weeks...yet only a handful of blogposts ago I was bitching about high school life, celebrating my freedom etc etc. And now I'm 1/3 the way into my first university degree...WHAT. Lets see how long it takes before I'm blogging something like "it was only a few years ago when I was bitching about a 2,000 word psych assignment and now I'm writing a 20,000 word thesis..."

I've actually realised how different my life is right now compared to even a few months ago. I feel like things change too fast in uni :( and it's scary to think which friendships will last forever, and which are only semesterlong friendships? Starting from next year everyone will be branching off into their field of subjects, which probably leaves me alone all over again. I know I'll always have my high school friends though :D I occasionally get jealous of the ones doing biomed/med/pharm because at least they know their friendships will (at the very least) last the length of their course. Whereas once I'm off doing my own subjects I'll have to consciously make an effort to catch up with people to maintain these friendships, instead of just rocking up to a lecture and knowing they'll be there.

I FEEL LIKE I COULD WRITE ABOUT THIS QUICKLY AND HAVE A LOT TO SAY, WHY CAN'T I APPLY THIS SKILL TO MY DAMN 2,000 WORD PSYCH ESSAY HAHAHA

month-long illness

So I've been sick since the winter break, which is a pretty damn long time...I'm pretty sure it was since I got my wisdoms out, my immune system has just been completely KO'd :( Post-wisdom removal I fevered up to 39.5C and then recovered a week later. Just when I think I'm all good, I wake up 2 weeks later with another fever which transitioned into a case of pharyngitis. 10 days of medication later, I have a ridiculous dry cough that won't go away. More medication...and now I have a runny nose. COME ON IMMUNE SYSTEM, WHY DO YOU SUCK?

I hate how this is getting in the way of my life...antibiotics didn't really stop me from partying on my 19th birthday though :P Had an AMAZING night, best birthday ever! It started out pretty stressful though, I had uni until 4:15 (couldn't skip since it was a test) so Amanda and I got home at 5:15 and had approximately 1.5 hours to shower, eat dinner, do hair and do makeup. This turned out to be quite a mad rush, which was pretty exciting at the same time...however, we caught the planned train and arrived 20 minutes before the boat cruise began. This potentially would've been fine, except there were NO TRAMS FROM FLINDERS TO DOCKLANDS. We should've been at Docklands at 7:30, but at 7:35 we were still at Flinders...so we just took ANY tram and ended up at Southern Cross, which was even worse cos there was definately no tram from there :( Luckily a nice cab driver actually stopped for us with an empty cab and let us squish an extra person, then drove like a madman to the boat (of course we got held up by a red light) and we got there 10 minute before departure! SO MUCH STRESS!

It was so great having a birthday at the same time as an Aa event, cos all my friends were there and people buy you birthday drinks :D And generally being on a boat is fun. Dancing/walking is difficult when the boat tilts though, and it's reallyyy windy outside

Seems like all my friends are getting into relationships (ok its just 2...or 3 friends. or 4) and for some reason its just so depressing to be single around them =__= And it's always like "don't worry Soph, your time will come" ...well I'm not trying to be impatient, but when will that be? and why is it that the few guys that show interest are all so damn weird?! LOL. It's also one of those moments where you think you're over your ex for the millionth time, but then because of all these new relationships all your memories come at you and its just like...uguhhhghuhghghh stupid brain, cut me a break bro!

So it's been a week since I got my teeth out and it's pretty much all good now...the swelling isnt visible but it's still there, and I can slowly eat solids if they're not toooo solid. I've been holed up at home for a week and it's absolutely KILLING me :| I've finished all seasons of Big Bang Theory and multiple old movies in that time, so I'm finally going to Lisa's after lunch to bake and go to yoga again. I'm so glad I found bikram yoga as a form of fitness...I think I'm addicted :D Although I feel like dying when I'm in that hot room, I feel great afterwards and ready to come back asap. I also dropped a kilo after around 3 weeks of sticking to it! lovelovelove

wisdom teeth

Got my bottom 2 wisdom teeth out yesterday! The actual extraction took what, 15 minutes? I was so surprised how fast it was, the full numbness hadn't even kicked in before it was alllll over. The numb feeling is hilarious, it tingles all the way into my eardrum. But once it wore off after 4 hours...the real pain kicked in and it was horrible :(

I had 1 painkiller but 2 hours later it wasn't really doing anything, so I had to hang in there another 2 hours before I could take another 2 (in case the drowsyness made me fall asleep and...never awaken). Had to sleep with 2 pillows as well so the blood would drain downwards a bit more, since I'm still bleeding every now and then and drooling like a baby. Also my cheeks have swelled up and I look like a chipmunk holding acorns in my cheeks ahaha...I would post a photo but I look like hell :D

So the essay question was something like "Describe the female menstrual cycle (uhh as opposed to the male menstrual cycle?) and the hormones associated with it"

...UM WHAT? not only could I not think of a sufficient essay response but that must've been pretty awkward for all the guys in the room to answer .___.

In hindsight I stressed too much about plants and plant hormones, and completely neglected humans/animals haha. OH WELL when are plants ever gonna be useful in my life anyway...unless I decide I wanna grow marajuana tomorrow.

Ohmygod I swear next semester I will:

Show up to all lectures (pretty good at doing this now though)
Not fall asleep during lectures
Not abuse uni wireless and download phone apps
Not play on said apps during lectures
Print out notes for the week over the weekend
Use these notes during lectures and actively listen
Revise and reread lecture info afterwards...or at least on the train ride home

MASS REGRET FOR NOT DOING ALL OF THIS STUFF THIS SEMESTER :( I was happily like "oh all I need to do is pass!" until I was kindly reminded that first year counts towards my GPA if I wanna get into post-grad med. I think it's time to drop out and be homeless now.

Never used to see the fun in going and having a crazy night out, but I guess I now understand the thing about "once you get a taste of it, you can't stop". Not saying I've been out all the time going absolutely wild, since my night outs have been pretty hit or miss o___o. Coincedence or not, it's always fun when Tamara's with me :D

Still, I'm not sure if it's all about the people you go with, cos a few times I've been out with all my closest friends and I still end up pretty bored. Maybe it's the good conversation with new people you get introduced to because for some reason it helps you to forget about everything else that's going on in your life :) orrr the complete opposite, where you just vent about all your problems to your friends over a $20 cocktail jug...

It's also struck me as weird that last night I had a regular (year 12 styled) 18th birthday party at a friends house with pass the parcel and pinatas like the good ol days and my parents seemed to be annoyed? It was like "why do you have to come home at midnight, when it's too early to cab home but too late for us to come get you!!" ehh I can't even explain what I'm trying to say right now...I feel like there are so many changes happening due to school --> uni transition, but none of it necessarily means *I'm* changing. AHH I CAN'T EXPLAIN IT, I think I should just go study now.

I don't actually feel like I need a holiday .____. but I'll take what I can get haha :P I guess uni freedom is like having a holiday all the time? I freak out over assignments and tests but in hindsight it's nothing like year 12. Bit of stress pulled off an 11/12 and 20/25 for midsems phew! And psych assignment was smooth sailing cos I got it done a day early :)

I'm still deciding whether I genuinely like uni or not though. Public transport is SHOCKING, i absolutely hate trains/trams, especially on rainy days. My train line flooded last Tuesday and it took me 1.5 hrs to get to uni...and I'm yet to catch a train that runs on time. I miss the old high school days etc :( Having a little girls night in/catchup with high school friendsies tomorrow which should be nice! Pizza, popcorn, movies and twister...what more do you need!

Gaaaah it's weird how my internet priorities have changed now .___. but at the same time I still waste heaps of time on my computer...how is this possible!

Anyway so we're already 1/4 of the way through 2011, how fast was that :( Midsemester tests are over, chem was aced and bio was horrible...on the flip side, our new bio lecturer kept me awake for the first time in 3 weeks! Yay! He's actually so awesome, pacing around the whole lecture theatre spontaneously quizzing people and talking in a permanently ":D!" voice. Plus, we've moved on from plants to animals so it's finally the biology I *want* to do. So hopefully I won't fail this unit now haha...

I think/like to think I've found the balance between social events and studying...couple of weeks ago was the Monash ASEAN lounge night which I actually had fun at and met lotssss of people :)

And the other night there was a night market at uni which was SO packed so all we did was hang around in the dark for a few hours...prior to that was some solid goss sesh over coffee with the girls!

I've figured you get bombarded with so many new people at uni every day (I'm literally meeting at least 1 new person per day) that it's really nice just to chill out with 1 or 2 people...or even have some alone time. I started my psych assignment, which involved having to watch the sunset...I thought I'd be really bored so I brought along some headphones, but it was nice to just sit there with my thoughts and watch people :D (is that creepy?)

HOWEVER! I am still very bored with life...I figured out last night that this could be because I don't play piano anymore? I feel like I have no goals and no distractions (in a bad way) since I have no music related performance/exam anxiety and things like that. So maybe I'll go to the piano later today - after I finish at least 500 words of this psych essay! MUST REACH THIS GOAL AND FEEL SATISFIED :(

Soooooo my internet is fast now...we rang Optus and complained, the did some crap and then dad was like "can we upgrade plans?" SO NEXT MONTH I GET 500GB HAHA O__O but it's so bad that it's fast now, because I'm abusing youtube etc and I'm way over my days elapsed %...if I don't slow the heck down they'll charge for going over 20gb

I don't know what else to do to kill time, seeing as I still have minimal work to do (biology can go suck it ahaha). I need a hobby! No seriously, that dance thing I joined started holding auditions and closing rehearsals until their first performance is over, so now I have nothing to do on the weekend =/

Phewwww, Friday already!

Ok admittedly, I may have exaggerated the WAHHHHHHHHHHH-ness of last week...ahahha. Emotional pmsy factors aside, uni is fine :P people are friendlier this week, but it still doesn't make it easier keeping friends...I didn't get say hi to the few people I met last week in my tutes, cos we sat in different spots and did work :( Psych tute was the most fun of all tutes cos we were actually encouraged to talk about issues and ethics etc...so I have some friends in psych I guess. Met the sweetest girl in one of my lectures but I dunno the chances of seeing her again haha...also met a nice 2nd year in my breadth lecture, but she probably won't rock up often/2nd year so again, dunno the chances of seeing her again either =___=

Had my first bio prac as well....biology is the most confusing thing in the world! So thankful the guy next to me was equally as confused, we bonded over imagining where a nucleus would go and making up our own pond life ahaha. Also stained half my fingers rather than the slides...and the good thing is, assigned seating means I'll actually get to see/remember the people around me (already forgotten their names oops). Miffy was totally also on my table, it was kinda like a mini high school reunion :P

Anyway I need to read up on bio since nothing makes sense. Today was good though, it was like vce chem with proteins/dna etc yayy...plus I had a massive bento box for lunch and bubble tea. I can't believe how hungry I am these days omgosh

longest week of my life

So uni's not as amazing as I expected =/ partly cos making friends is tiring, keeping friends is even more tiring, not seeing familiar faces all the time is strange, going a day without seeing a familiar face is upsetting, not understanding anything in biology is frustrating...the list goes on. It's not that I'm having a terrible time, I think I just built up uni to be AWESOMEEEE in my head and then...it's really not. The week went by SOOO SLOOOOWLY, and after Wednesday's rock bottom of being sad, it went by even more slowly =____= I think the thing I hate the most is the fact that everyone's breaks rarely coincide, so even if I've made a new friend, they're rushing off to calculus while I have 2 hours to chill. With nobody.

Nah okay it's not that horrible. The good part is I'm becoming closer to the friends I used to be vaguely acquainted with, and I'm getting better at accepting it when people literally turn away from me when I say hi. This shouldn't happen more than once but it's happened 3 times...is my face scary .___. ? I guess it's also good to know people get too busy for you so they semi-cut you out of their lives...makes me realise that I can do better (among other things) even if it initially hurts like crap. And the amount of public transport is SOOOOO time consuming :(

I don't even know where to begin, I haven't blogged in SO long =/ sooo since that fateful day of December the 13th, I have travelled from Hong Kong to Japan to China and back, got accepted into Science at Melbourne Uni, been flooded/rained on multiple times (wearing the same pair of shoes) and caught up on the many TV shows I've missed in the month that I was travelling...

I dunno how to sum up my massive 3 month(ish) holiday, but basically I'll NEVER be as freeeeee as I am right now - no more school, uni ahead is the BEST break of my life! And as my travel buddies and I concluded, this freedom won't ever come again in our lives? Cos let's face it, once uni starts, it'll be uni year after year, then we'll get a job, settle down, babies etc etc and freedom will next come when we retire O__O in which we'll have to worry about our health ahahah

BUT ANYWAY I am SO excited for uni! O week starts tomorrow and I can't wait to make new friends :) I hope my host group aren't retarded. and I hope they won't think I'm retarded if I decide to use this -

What have I been up to/so busy with this week?

...not very much. As in, I can't remember what I've been doing, but I think I was fairly busy? Last night we had our annual Christmas piano concert for the Royal Childrens' Hospital, which was a success (I think). Last year we raised over $2000 so hopefully we can top it this year :D Susan hosted it with some name pronouncing errors...Jacky seems to suck at spelling peoples' names, making me look stupid when there's errors in the program that I made =__=. There was this ADORABLE little boy who wore suspenders and a bowtie, and playing a violin duet with this little cellist girl and stuffed up twice and got all flustered...SO DANG CUTE OH MY GOSHH

I performed last :| wwhhhhyyyy mmmeeeee, it wasn't even a WOO FINALE kinda song, I mean come on..Clair de Lune REALLY? But it went well...wait yeah that's what I was so busy with this week, PIANO. Here's a photo of the awesomethree, est. 1998...I love how 12 years on, the first thing we do after concerts (apart from eat food before it disappears) is get changed out of our damn dresses...and then cop it cos we're still wearing makeup and look stupid anyway

I think other than piano I've actually done nothing :| Went out with Ian again some time last week and he got me chocolate WOOOO...it's almost sad how easy I am to please haha. Went to see Social Network with Ian today, and blogging about it makes me feel like I'm the facebookguy who goes out with his girl and then bitches about her on the internet LOL (except I'm not here to bitch). The movie was surprisingly good...I kinda thought "pffft if I wanted to know about facebook I would just go on facebook" but the acting was good, the backstory was interesting and I lol'd at the end where he sits there refreshing the page, hoping his ex will accept his friend request ahaha. Dunno how much of it was true, but it was pretty sad how he can be the youngest billionaire and seem to have everything but of course, not the girl. Also disturbing to see London Tipton having dirty sex in a toilet :| HAHA

We had lunch until I pretty much exploded - never have I ever finished a whole Nando's meal arghhh...felt too fat to move afterwards, so we just talked til he had to go meet a doctor to absorb some medical knowledge for his upcoming interviews. Here I am chilling and hanging out for results, forgetting that some nerds out there actually passed the UMAT hahahaah

heat, pollen & boredom

Today marks the first day when I've started to feel bored with lack of school (not complaining, just saying :P). Nowhere to go because it's too bloody hot/windy and hayfever is through the roof.

Went to the pool yesterday to actually swim laps...probably did around 100m before my arms were exhausted, but the pressure of Susan & other fast people in my lane pushed me to about 1km before I yelled to PLEASE STOP, CAN WE JUST TAN?! Changed outta the bathers into a bikini, and to my horror I had this terrifying circle tan on my back that was kinda grey in colour because of sunscreen...I think it's faded out now, but judging by my white ass I got blacker anyway.

Mum talked me out of going to Susan's after dinner, so instead I did some massive redecorating - for the few youtubers who follow me here (I swear I will make a video soon!) you might be sad to see the Oosp poster finally retire...

but it's a welcome change for me seeing as post-school life is changing so much now :) plus, I will neverrr get bored staring at my wall anymore!

I think I'll go to Susan's later in the comfort of mum's airconditioned and freefrompollen car and just watch DVDs. ANYTHING to get me out of this house/off the computer

There's this asian TV show on satellite that my parents have been hooked on lately...kind of like a dating show. The contestants are dating couples, who have to "pitch" their story to a live audience and their parents in order to decide if they should get engaged or not. Then after an open&honest discussion with their parents and hearing the audience's opinion, the guy and girl go into separate little...capsule things, and decide if they want to get engaged. If they do, they stay inside the capsule, and if they don't, they get out. The capsules spin around and we find out whether they're gonna get married or not :D make sense? (Probably not)

So this morning there was a couple who had known each other since they were kids, but the guy works a slightly dangerous construction job verrrryyyyy far away from the girl. After much deliberation and declarations of love, they get into their separate capsules, it spins around and the guy doesn't come out, but the girl does. *awkward*

The guy explained that he loves her so much that she deserves to be with a guy that works a better job, lives closer etc...BASICALLY "if you love them, let them go"

...OH GOD MY DAD HAD TEARS IN HIS EYES!

Mum thought this was hilarious...she was like SINCE WHEN WERE YOU A SUCKER FOR LOVE STORIES!? And I told Dad to watch more romance movies cos I thought the guy was being ridiculously cliche ahaha

I've been working pretty hard today, for the first time since exams started...partly because my internet broke after lunch so there wasn't much else to do :( But just when I REALLY needed a break, there was literally nothing I could do to chill out, so I switched from maths to chemistry and BOY DID I EXPERIENCE PROACTIVE INTERFERENCE OR WHAT (why I am referencing psych. I have finished psych. Screw you VCE.)

Basically after intensive study, my brain felt like it was a milkshake and I couldn't do anything right; even the easy stuff that I could normally do with my eyes closed...nah actually my eyes need to be open to read the question. Except this time with my eyes open, I couldn't read the question anyway IT'S COS I'M ASIAN ISN'T IT?

I cannot wait til I can officially throw all my maths out the window/in the toilet/down the drain/into a fire (but most likely into a recycling bin) tomorrow afternoon so I can focus on the one subject that I like...except my current problem is I have a very low chance of doing well in this subject due to...lots and lots of proactive interference.

Time to go back to methods because...I'm gonna fail pretty hard tomorrow. This will probably be due to my intensive hunger that will kick in midexam...

Thanks for that Psychology exam 2010, why were you harder than 08 and 09? Why were there soo many...experimental based questions :S It wasn't too hard/terrible for me, it was just really...strange?

I finished with half an hour to spare, but in hindsight I wish I added the extra little details that could've acted as a safety net in case the right answer wasn't there...the thing about psych is that you *have* to have the keyword in your answer, otherwise it's just all wrong. I'm pretty sure a few questions I answered too specifically, when the question was asking for more general stuff (ie, answering episodic rather than declarative, answering variable interval instead of partial reinforcement...)

SIGH LETS JUST TACKLE METHODS SHALL WE? Jealous of those who have 1 to go when I have 4 left :(

In 24 hours time, I should have finished my language analysis and moving onto my final essay ever on 1984...WEEOW! 18 more days and I will be totally. Free.

It feels like time has come to a complete grinding halt, but at the same time if it moves any faster I'll fail all my exams due to lack of preparation. I'm currently not sure how to even study for English...do I just read old essays/study notes again and again, do another essay under time pressure, do some plans...?

I think I'll just wing it =___= no kidding, under exam pressure I come up with some incredible bullshit that you just can't do at home under fake exam pressure. Plus, I've lost my quote sheet amongst my table mess...even though I tidied it 5 days ago.

Another big issue is...how does one resist going to the toilet for 3 hours?! I can't just get up to go pee without losing precious writing time :(

I can't believe it is actually over...13 years of school, from primary school to year 12 I've sure had some incredible memories. Regardless of the stupid school cancelling things and restricting our celebrations, today was amazing. Breakfast at Giorgios, dominating the tram on the way back to school, final house assembly, final school assembly ft a hilarious year 12 video, singing, baby photos and random interviews...plus the thrill of cutting up your dress and getting it signed knowing that you don't have another dress to wear for exams (oops HAHA). Chips at central park in the sun with the year level...yeah some people were off their faces by this point. at 1pm? what haha

I definately wont miss the early mornings, the boring classes, the sacs, the pressure...but I will sure as hell miss seeing everyone in my year level, laughing at ridiculous things...when else in your life will teachers willingly dress up in stupid outfits and dance around? I can't even begin expressing my memories in words, but at the same time I feel like if I don't write it all down, someday I'll forget it all. There are people that you don't really know, sometimes don't even say hi to...and you know you'll see them in the future only at reunions. There are people that aren't in your friendship group and you don't have many classes with, but you know that you can talk to them and all you can do is hope that you won't fall out of touch.

And then there's the best friends that you've shared EVERYTHING with, and they have been with you every step of the way. You know you'll definately hang out with them a lot in the future, but sometimes you wonder if the new friends you make in uni will push away some of the time you can spend with them? That's really...emo/clingy of me ahahha, because I'm really excited to make new friends at the same time :D

I don't know what else to say, there isn't much I can physically study tonight...it's all too overwhelming :( but my room definately needs to be tidied, it looks like I smeared jam onto every inch of my table. Except instead of jam, it's books and paper

Feeling really strange over the fact that high school is finally ending. On one hand I've been looking forward to this day since...well let's face it, pretty much since I was born. Funny to think that there's a life beyond Year 12, and I'm almost there

After talking to some friends last night about post-exam plans, I realised that a lot of the people I care about in my life are probably not gonna be around very often after Year 12 :( Lots of people applying to go interstate and would seriously consider going if they got in...sad. Like it's great that they're chasing their goals and they know what they want, but I'm personally way too unstable to leave Melbourne :P Knowing that these friends have planned all the way to life *beyond* uni freaks me out sometimes, since I can barely tackle my goals one at a time...priority right now is getting into uni at all hahaha

Dad asked me about going interstate (not that he understands much about all of this :P) and it's like...well uni is a big enough change as it is, I don't think I'd enjoy the thrill of being in somewhere unfamiliar with unfamiliar people. It's like Year 7 all over again O__O I guess I know what I ultimately want to do...I don't exactly have a clue how to get there, but I know that I'll find my way, right?

YAYAYAY NO MORE JAPANESE ORAL EVER :) In the time that I've struggled to battle this thing I have cried 3 times and endured the pain of random Japanese syllables invading my brain when I least want them to.

While we were waiting, St Kevs people were right before us and we figured out who *stole* Viv W's time slot with us haha...when we were all sitting outside the rooms it felt like we were all being prepared for execution or something :| One by one we got called in until it was just Erika left waiting 10 minutes after we all started

SO, general conversation, they asked me everything I was prepared for - family, school, hobbies and future...when they asked me what I thought of our school music concert, I was like "it was excellent" and then they asked me what my PARENTS thought...and I was like "they said it was...excellent". Ran out of freaking adjectives...LOL. Also they asked me why I need Japanese in my future as a doctor and I was like "to talk to people"...so the examiner was like "don't you mean to talk to Japanese people?". I was like oh...yes...that's what I meant (*cough* didn't know how to say that anyway). The awkwardest silence came from me saying I want to eat sushi in Japan, because they were like "haven't you eaten sushi in Australia?" and I could only respond with a "yes but Japan is...good...better?"

Detailed study was strange, they pushed random things I had never studied...they asked me to compare Australian and Japanese marriages and I said "I didn't study this, but I studied the change in average marriage age" and they were like "Okay. So tell me what you learnt from the DVD"...awkward way to ignore what I said, thanks examiners =__= I didn't even get to say my conclusion, which was annoying because it would've been a great way to end on something good. Instead they were just like *awkward silence* ok no more time, finished now!

Some nervous looking guy was sitting right outside when I was done, and he was like O__O is it okay...and I was struggling to close the door so I left it half open, wished him luck and ran away to bitch about it with my Jap class. Had lunch together and got home *too late* for trial exams so here I am loading the latest ep of How I Met Your Mother :D Friggin internet is slower than dialup, no joke :(

I just read some of my old blogs (cos I was procrastinating, why else...) and it made me laugh how wound up I was about the amount of stuff I had to do at the start of the year. I would be like OMG I HAVE A SAC YADDAYADDAYADDDA and now it's like ....well I have 3 SACs some time this week, I dunno when and I have no idea what it's on....OH WELL. ahaha

But at the same time I'm still wound up about stuff, but it's mostly legit, like *sigh* the oral in 2 days time. Practice went well yesterday, "like you are diffarento paahson" and I genuinely do not want to practice anymore...it's not perfect, she said it was 85% there, but COME ON it's good enough and I just want to end on a high :(

It's funny how I intended to work on my other subjects but I haven't touched them since last week and I'm not even concerned right now - it's like it'll magically happen...*prays*. On top of that there is, of course, unrelated to VCE problems concerning heart > head if you know what i mean haha...funny how that stuff happens to everybody in the world :)

There isn't even a proper word to express my feelings towards this stupid Japanese oral this Tuesday. It's not even worth that much; I would rather spend my time on my other subjects but my teacher is insane and thinks I have all the time in the world to dedicate ONLY to this stupid subject. Sorry, not the whole subject, just this 12.5% of my study score which in the end accounts to nothing because the scaling will probably account for my shitness, putting the whole subject in my top 4 against my wishes.

At this rate I might as well not show up, it's not like it would make a difference to my mark anyway =__= All I have learnt from doing a language is that NO I DO NOT WANT TO つづけます it in uni despite my fake smile and enthusiasm during general conversation. No praise for my perfect sentences, only "I bery disappointed in you Sopie dis is not good ata all, no point to come see me tomorrow. Eberybody else I bery happy with general conbasation, you must go home and study tonight and tomorrow and see me Friday"

I'm SO sick of this...clearly I haven't stuck to my plans and all I wanna do is just bury VCE into a pit =__= I'm *doing* work but NONE of it feels productive. I spend 2 hours memorising half my Japanese oral, and forget it all the next day. HOW IS THAT FAIR? Plus I hand in some work to my English tutor thinking I'm awesome because I've actually made the effort to TRY and she gives it back to me telling me that it's not bad, but it's not good either...so its like I wasted my time yet again. Don't even get me started on how I should tackle Chem/Psych, I don't even know where to fricken start...

UMAT was an absolute failure, no chance of doing undergrad med, but that's totally cool with me...sorts out my preference dilemma anyway :P Until dad started adding the pressure and being all like "so you'll do biomed, and then do med right? so if you do science, will that take you to med? how many years before you can study med?". WELL YES I *DO* WANNA DO MED AT SOME POINT IN MY LIFE, BUT IF YOU KEEP TALKING LIKE THIS MAYBE I DON'T WANNA DO IT ANYMORE HUH!

So I got over that pretty quick aha, until today when the topic of VCE just WOULD NOT leave the dinner table. So I ran away and had a cry/vented to a few friends - girls definately being the more comforting of the 2 genders haha.

I just hope all this pressure/stress/work/emotional instability is worth that stupid 4 digit number on Dec 13th

After x number of weeks since year 12 began, there's only 6 weeks until exams and I am SO RUNNING OUT OF STEAM :( It's so hard to just keep pushing on, knowing that you've *cough* worked so hard all year and there's only that liiiiittle bit to go...but...still, I'm suffering from a massive case of I CANNOT BE BOTHERED!

Plan for the next few weeks is 3 practice exams per day - 1 methods a day, 1 chem a day and 1 psych/english a day.

AND SOMEWHERE IN THERE I AM EXPECTED TO MEMORISE MY ENTIRE DETAILED STUDY. IN TWO WEEKS! IS MY JAPANESE TEACHER INSANE OR DOES SHE SERIOUSLY HAVE THAT MUCH FAITH IN US?????

I'm literally not leaving the house for the next 2 weeks, unless it's to go for a run. Because I SWEAR I will get fit these holidays........oh sorry, I mean study vacation =_____=

Had a good day, despite school...the year 12s learnt a good chunk of the year 12 song, which made me really happy :D Shelby got everyone to sing happy birthday to me, which is always awkward but very sweet anyway haha

SO Jazz Soiree auditions sucked crap! Here I was feeling fairly confident until SURPRISE, you have to audition with microphones.

so yeah I can't speak for Diana but I thought both of us did pretty badly, but our band was amazing as always. Lesson learnt - I'll stick to the piano and not sing solo ever again hahaha

Had some present deliveries after school from Susan and Lisa :) Got a mimco bag/clutch from Susan and a filofax from Lisa...both pretty sick presents woo! Mum and Dad went out at 5ish to buy a woodfire for Saturday night, and it's AMAZING. Except that my clothes and hair smell like I'm burning and I only stood near it for 5 minutes D: VERY excited to partaaay!

IT WAAS AMAAAZINGGGG :D NO JOKE, BEST ANNUAL CONCERT EVER! (unfortunately can't post pics cos...uniform and stalkers and stuff yeahh...hahaha)

I'm SOOO proud of everyone who 1) voluntarily came and 2) performed :P I can't even describe the amazingness of it all, it just ran so smoothly and it was more of a...show rather than a formal concert

Marney McQueen is hilarious, she MC'd the night, and was in character as Rosa for the last part. She impromptu'd Nicola and me which was pretty stressful cos I suck at ad libbing, and Nicola's just always funny :) I was literally running around all night...no joke, I was in every item except for like..the staff choir. TOTALLY MY FAVOURITE THING OF THE NIGHT HAHA, PJU dancing aahhh...

I even got given flowers for the most random thing of doing some accompaniment that I'm pretty sure nobody could hear...but the flowers smell SOO good, mum loves them haha. When it was all over I held it in pretty well until Mrs Bryant hugged me and I started to tear up - what? LAST ONE EVER? NOO :(

August is about to roll around and I'm about to have another hectic fortnight of 2010 :( So this week was the UMAT (section 3 fail) and last weekend was a million rehearsals for the concert...I've handed in no work at school and used the same excuse on every teacher (it's working!) and its making me feel really really guilty...

Chem SAC tomorrow...AAAND Jap exchange girls coming tomorrow! Meaning I'll get no work done this weekend AGAIN because we'll have to take them out, plus I have mooore rehearsals this Sunday.

So I guess I'll wing my English SAC on Monday/Tuesday?

THEN WEDNESDAY IS THE NIGHT OF THE BIG CONCERT! Which I'm yet to write my speech for.....

I can officially say I've been to the worst party of my life.

Actually no...I take that back, it was so bad I can't even call it a "party"

SO basically it's ONE BIG MASSIVE BALL OF DISORGANISATION. By the looks of the facebook event, it looked like it was going to be amazing - nicely designed invitation, themed house party, 50 people, DJ and everything. On the morning of the "party", we suddenly got told it was now a BBQ near her house...okay fine, I can handle that. After Robyn's, I went to Lisa's to get dressed up and all of that and we decided just to show up for the house party (cos it was freezing haha).

We rock up to the house, knock on the door and this fobby girl in a bathrobe opens the door

"Hi, is Min there?"

"...umm...no such person exists. Sorry"

.......

So we call Min and she said she was still at the park, but she'll be there in 10

(which apparently means she won't be there for another hour)

Amanda, Lisa, Irene, Juls and I went for a maccas run, and we're joined by Viv, Eric, Steph Ian and Tamara...seriously, this was possibly the best part of the night. We call Min again and she said she'd call us when they get to the house...a while later and still no phone call, we decide to walk back to the house (whilst Ian drove the others back ahhaha)

We meet a whole bunch of confused and pissed off people in the driveway of the house, some people just sitting there drinking on the footpath (classy) and according to Leah, Min talked it out with someone in the house and they were allowed inside the shed only HAHAHA

Someone tried to light a fire, some asshole was going to put an adorable kitty in the fricken FREEZER, weird underage gangstas smoking and generally being disgusting...omg mann! The thing is, I'm not upset that the "party" was an absolute fail on all counts, I'm just more pissed at the fact that Min didn't even have the to decency to call us to tell us what was going on, NOR did she even greet us properly or explain anything when we got there. The only thing she said to me was "Why didn't you come to the park?" (cos you said you'd call us) and "HAVE A SPARKLER, JUST TAKE A SPARKLER!". Like COME ON, we're meant to be your "closest" friends! It got me pretty angry when some total randoms saw us and went "Whoa, MORE people?" ...UM YEAH WE'RE WAY MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOU, WHO THE HELL ARE YOU??

What crappy organisation =__= I was feeling sorry for her cos it was her 18th party, but honestly...she's had ages to plan it, its not like she has no money, stop expect others to do things for her/be okay with her random last minute plans and BASICALLY she brought it upon herself. SO WHATEVER *rage*. School should be interesting now huh...

Aph was just like "just go home. this is a fricken waste of time" so they bailed, Lisa took some people back to her place, and I crammed into Ian's car and we ended up at Viv's house...UM WHICH WAS SO MUCH BETTER =__=

So. Bizarre.

It was pretty fun actually, I dragged 2 of my best mates from primary school to go with me (both were dreading it) and on the inside I thought it would be seriously awkward...

And okay, there was *some* awkwardness for Steph and me because we left in year 3&4...I remembered everyone but people looked at us without seeming to know who we were so we just didn't say anything LOL

To the half of the 40ish people who did remember me, it was really good seeing them :D Spent most of the time talking to Olivia and Tiffany, exchanging hilarious memories/stories, ohhh mannn so much laughter! I definately didn't know the guy sitting opposite me (..Jay? err) cos I had already left school, but it was strange how we barely spoke and he added me on facebook =/

Also really funny when people remember the most random things...James was like HEY you're the girl who can say the alphabet backwards! Well....yes, but HAHAHA WHAT A RANDOM THING TO REMEMBER?

Most people haven't changed at all...Kathy came alllll the way down from Koo Wee Rup (yeah where the hell is that?) in the country and she was soo cute cos she was nervous haha. Didn't get to say hey to the twins either but it didn't look like they recognised me anyway :( Vaguely said hi to 2 of my really good friends back then, but we're all soooo different now that there wasn't much conversation...but at the same time, none of us have changed that much. I guess friendship is just way easier when you're 10 years old :)

SOO my day's all messed up now...Lisa, Juls and I set out to watch Karate Kid today (cheap Tuesday woo!), and whilst lining up for tickets, there was some weird burning smell but we ignored it and went into the cinemas

20 minutes into the movie, the film suddenly blacked out and the sound like...slow-mo'd to a stop, lights went up and some dude came in to evacuate us all out =/ it was pretty crazy the amount of people just FLOODING down the escalators. I saw a few firemen so I assume it was a fire (and yeah, apparently a fire in the kitchen of Groove)...

The guy said we'd all get a refund blahblahblah but COME ON, I hauled my ass all the way to the city to do absolutely nothing! Like I'd come back tomorrow all over again...hrrmph. I'll get that refund hopefully next week...imagine how much it would suck if you were 10 minutes away from the end of your movie, or at the REALLY exciting part and they stopped the film ohhh man...I guess I'm thankful we were only 20 minutes in :)

Let's track back a few days shall we.......

Sunday morning, Lisa dropped her stuff off at my house and we headed off to the city, shopped all over the fricken CBD and headed over to Novotel on Collins (late) to pick up our hotel key from mum and dad :D I bought a pair of sweet boots and left them in our room, and then we continued shopping...and I bought a skirt and Lisa bought a scarf !

Caught the train to L'Olivo for Julia's 18th dinner, and we basically just ate some pizza and pasta (SO YUM)

Walked to her house afterwards for some cocktails&cake....yumm

Irene gave us a lift back to our temporary home in the city, and we watched the soccer til exhaustion got the better of us :D

Day 2 started with a massive bacon and egg megamcmuffin or whatever the hell it's called, and we got harrassed for money from an apparently mute person who owned an macbook. POOR MY ASS! We were totally out of places to shop because we'd been everywhere the day before, so we made a trip to South Wharf and checked out a pretty crappy DFO =/ Eventually met up with Irene again and watched Toy Story 3 WHICH IS AWESOME!

After the movie we trammed up Collins to No.35 in Sofitel (and attempted to avoid a really creepy hobo man who swore so much it was probaby Tourettes) and trekked through the insane wind...had a seat with the best view EVER and a salty/expensive meal that Lisa couldn't finish. We sat in our seats BURSTING with food so we walked it off. To the toilet. BUT WITH A VIEW :D

We ended up on some comfy seats in the Atrium...more cocktails and free pretzels yumm. Left Sofitel at around 9 and battled our way through the wind back *home*...aaaand watched more soccer. 11am checkout the next day and back to the reality of stress and holiday homework :(

It's ridiculous how fast this year is moving :( One week til midyears and I have no idea how I'm managing, and I have no idea how I WILL manage.

So they've cancelled the end of year revue, and removed the captain's final speeches...so HOW are year 12's supposed to celebrate the end of our year?? Having a captains meeting with CJ about it tomorrow morning to discuss our "options" ...

I'm also finding it hard to balance conflicting commitments...like every Tuesday morning I've been forced into accompanying a string group, but I have captains meetings as well. I thought it would be fine, I'd just rehearse for a bit then go to my meeting at 8, but this fails every week because the freaking teacher doesn't show up until 7:55, so HOW am I supposed to get decent rehearsal out of it? Then she expects me to be okay with going to my meetings late and then tells me to skip my meetings every 2nd week - UMM...HELLO, I wouldn't BE at this rehearsal if I wasn't music captain, so why are you telling me to ditch my captain duties? KLD lecture time with Viv!!!!!!!!!! :D ..........it sucked.

So we ditched session 2 and went shopping! For shoes and coats :) There was a really nice pair of longgg boots from Rubi shoes, but the shit quality/making meant that it took me about 10 minutes to get my foot in. They felt nice though, so maybe I'll try them again some time when I'm wearing tights. I also found a really nice jacket, and the shoulders stuck out a lot (probably because of the coat hanger...) but maybe I'll go back to get it when I have more money and less to stress about.

I WANTED FOOD ALL DAY! Especially vege chips, damn Liz has made me TOTALLY hooked...

On the way home, I thought I got lucky cos I didn't have to change trains :D but then, I got stranded a few stops away from home because someone on my train...I dunno, needed a friggin ambulance, so the train was delayed indefinately and I stood in the cold for ages whilst mum tried to drive to a foreign train station LOL

CAN 2010 JUST...LIKE...STOP GOING SO FAST? I can't believe it's May :(

Not gonna lie, things have started to get pretty weird these days...not a bad weird, but an unexplainable weird. You'd think by now people would have figured out who they are and where they stand but things just *never* stop changing and it's just...WEIRDDD. I guess I'm just terrible at adjusting to change, so I'll have a bitchfest every night until I get over it :D aaand the wheel of life goes on.

There's NEVER a SAC-less week and it's getting REALLY tiringgg! So in the last weekandahalf:

English SAC - A+ woop!
Psych SAC - $*&#@!!! If I had known the question wanted a specific depth cue rather than the general group of depth cues I WOULD HAVE ANSWERED IT PROPERLY WOULDN'T I! So I answer it wrong, meaning the 2nd part is wrong, meaning the 3rd part is wrong and psych doesn't friggin mark consequentially. I GOT FULL MARKS EVERYWHERE ELSE BUT NOOOO it's just an A instead. BEFORE MY LIFETIME ENDS I WOULD LIKE TO GET FULL MARKS IN *SOMETHING* (other than music perf. that doesn't count.)
Methods SAC - JUST passed part 1, but did really well on part 2 and 3! So I'm pretty happy :) Would have been a solid A but yeah, the shit mark pulled me back down to my usual B/B+ haha...no complaining *shuns methods*
Chem SAC - ...no idea. Did it today, and I'm pretty confident it's A+ worthy :D even though my ester smelt like a salted orange cake...beats Leah's "dusty room and newly photocopied paper" ester hahahaha

Production is coming up reaaaal soon and it's gonna be so amazing! All this music is actually killing me though...I'll pretty much be at school for 11 hours tomorrow and my voice can only handle so much singing. It's only fun in swing choir and singing with Diana ♥ everything else is getting painful...especially Tuesdays with Amadeus to captains meeting, no spares, senior choir and orchestra. And this week/next week is Robyn's until 9pm. SO BASICALLY I don't get a single second to breathe, yay

SO, I registered to vote the other week and now I'm on the electoral roll all ready to go for the elections this year! Booked my L's test (finally) for this Saturday cos I need a non-school ID pretty soon for when I turn 18 hehe, and I need it to register for the UMAT anyway.

Biggest dilemma as of now - do I want to do med at Monash or biomed at Melbourne? Med would be great, but I don't really want to dive straight into 30 contacts hours a week thankss...its like duuude I just finished school, cut me a break! But what if I get accepted and don't want it anymore...it's too risky to reject it and hope I'll get into biomed at Melb for 2nd round offers? Also, what if I do med for a while and realise I hate it...I don't wanna stay in frigging Monash, I'm only considering it cos it's the only place that offers med...

Full day of shopping and quality girl time...shopped from 2 til almost 6:30, and the birthday girl made us "dress up" (...yeah, way to dress up susanwearingnormalclothes) so I lasted all day in my heels! My feet feel slightly strange right now and a blister was forming last night, but I think I did pretty damn well :)

Had a nice dinner at the Chocolate Buddha; bit pricey but worth the gossip. I didn't have much of an appetite cos we'd had iced chocolates just beforehand, and I didn't have much money left because of the pandora bead we'd just bought for Steph...so now I need to spend 3 years in the gym, and I owe Susan $10.

ps, Also ran into Michael (I swear I know stacks of Michaels) on the train and he got waitlisted into Harvard and Princeton (!)...application process sounds SOO complicated and stressful I think I'm gonna rule out going overseas to study =___= semester exchange sounds good enough...

GIRL TIME with Lisa. Went to good ol' Box Hill to find a cheap hairdresser but they all rip you off like crazy (nts, somehow go to springy for hair problems next time), $100-$120 to dye my hair and $90 JUST to fix my patch of yellow? MIGHT AS WELL DYE MY WHOLE HEAD THEN, GOD.

Lisa got her fringe cut, I got my brows done and then we went to Chaddy to feed ourselves, shop and stuff.

Lisa bought some boots and I picked up a mac foundation (which is SOO yellow that I thought the woman screwed it up, but for some reason it looks fine on my face) and then we...went back to eating. LINDT CAFE! No luck with any of the 18th presents so we might as well waste cash on food?

SERIOUSLY. What does one get for someone's 18th birthday? AHHHHH. At least with Steph, Susan and I made dinner reservations tomorrow night, and we'll probs get her something from Tiffany's (ugh, and you wonder why I'm broke).

Pretty boring event...way wayy too formal to stay awake throughout with all the hat tipping and unnecessary addressing =__= The funner part was watching the performances (why are all the little people such MUSIC FREAKS! omg) and catching up with old friends! Really good to see Angelica again after so many years...8 years I think?

Again with the creepy factor - there were people there that I have seen in my lifetime/know their name but never actually spoken to =/ It's a small world when you do music...even more so for Angelica cos she's in all those music group things so she literally knew EVERY lmus pianist ahh what a freak ahaha

Also got a chance to talk to Michael there and ask him to come to formal with me, so I'm all ready to go...just gotta talk details on pres at my place and afters at (?)'s place. Looks like we're going with no limo cos there's just toooo freakin many people and not enough money :( My list of people for pres is sitting on a 15 (provided sam eventually talks to the hot guy and ian definately comes with panda...and claude doesnt invite himself wth). So in my spare periods I like to just...do nothing and mostly gossip with Sam :D and by gossip, we literally talk about the same thing in a new way - bitch about mutual friends, dish dirt on nonmutual friends, complain about something/anything/everything, dig into each other's love life and so on HAHAHA yknow, girly thingssss. We're not being mean or anything, just need to get it out of our system cos my excuse for everything is IT'S YEAR 12.

So Sam and I were facebook stalking people etc, then we came to realise that someone else could be doing the exact same thing about us D: Like there's people on facebook you always see tagged in photos so you eventually know their name but the thing is you've never freakin met them in real life so you feel like a pedo

It's always awkward being invited to a party of someone you're not really friends with...what do you do? You don't go, then feel bad because 50 other people aren't going? You go just to be polite?

So I go because I'm nice like that.

You rock up in costumes and realise that nobody else really dressed up as hardcore as you did. Random girl comes up to you and goes "YOU PLAY THE FLUTE DON'T YOU!" and you spend the rest of the night thinking she has a 6th sense because you've never seen her in your life.

You freakin run away from her.

Then what, you sit in an anti-social corner all night with 8 other anti-social people and...be social together? Funny stories are swapped, pizza is notsogracefully eaten and gross drinks are drunk (someone dilute that craaaaaaap) but this can only be fun for so long...

People start leaving, one chick hooks up with all the guys there (a grand total of three), cake is eaten (or not eaten because of the sickness due to the gross drink) and photos are taken (or bombed) and at the end of the night everyone in your anti-social corner has gone home except one (ilyviv), so you stand there awkwardly being eaten by mozzies while a retard starts dancing up to you and you shun him.

A ride home doesn't come soon enough, and you spend the next half hour getting lost taking a "short cut" but car ride conversations are always fun ;D

So then when you get home...you hope the next party 1ups this one by a mile.

So Year 12 really isn't much harder than Year 11...it's just the fact that you can NEVER have a "slack off" moment. My brain has been switched on and BAMBAMBAM since day one and I am so exhausteddd - to think it's only been 26 school days since we started =/

Halfway through our English SAC analysis thingo, going well :) Methods SAC on Friday, went horribly but sounded like everyone didn't do so great either...tech free was so damn hard! Chem SAC every fortnight, managing the best I can...Psych SAC this Tuesday so I'll have to cram all long weekend

Apparently Chiba sensei has a nerve problem and is temporarily paralysed =/ she's gonna be away from school indefinately so SHIBATA SENSEI IS BAAACK! She JUUST went back to Japan with 100kg of luggage shipped across, and came back to Melbourne 3 days later on a $6000 plane ticket. LOVE. HER! So seeing as we're currently completely inadequate in Japanese, our SAC is being delayed :D Day 1, Year 12 Japanese officially commences NOW. hahaha

Not long til the formal either, it still shits me a little when all the Year 11's are talking about it...GET YA OWN FORMAL GOSHH! I'm all sorted out in terms of dress/shoes/hair/makeup, just gotta decide if I wanna take a date or not cos it looked pretty boring/awkward for the some of the dates last year...

Biro's warning turned out to be true, I'm sick :( Very pissed about that cos I finally had some freedom this weekend, so I could go to a party on Saturday night and go to Belle's on Sunday to pick a dress...but with a sore throat and a screwed up sinus, I pretty much cancelled on everything (including methods tutoring - the only bonus LOL) and tried to recover asap

Which didn't work cos I pretty much got progressively worse

BUT I'm not the only one, which makes me feel better :D Sam's sick too, but her sickness started on Friday, and her voice is all scratchy today - meaning I'll be like her tomorrow :(

To top it all off, I have to audition for orchestra tomorrow, wtf. Not to be up my ass about it but asif she's not gonna let the music captain be in orchestra.

We came 4th by 1/2 a point :( but TOUGH competition man, REALLY fun night! We went to Jess' house after school to chill, do hair/makeup, dance a bit and go to school together

FUNNIEST thing was when we were all in our crazy leotards in the front yard and the pizza delivery man came whilst we were dancing. AWKWARD. He was this typical nerdy looking asian dude, who literally RAN away from us after he dropped off the pizzas. Left the pizza bags and his pen and everything hahahaaa

So the guy's name was actually Bob. Though he said some people call him David as well...um, someone needs to know what their own name is. ANYWAY we were at his house, and I went to the bathroom and shut the door (as you do)

On the way out, I accidentally locked the door out of reflex, because I thought I locked it on the way in ....*crack*

......oh shit

The lock broke?

The twisty thing was still twisting, but the bar was still firmly inside the door

So I stood there for a minute trying to get myself out...then I awkwardly knocked on the door and said "help?"(I felt like a retard doing this LOL), and then ended up banging on the door yelling "IM STUUUUCK"

So a crew of 10 people started to help me out, first by telling me to twist the lock (I'm not THAT stupid), then telling me to turn the door handle (...oh COME ON) before the men in the house got out the tools and tried to do whatever they were doing

Dad passed me a screwdriver under the door to undo the lock from the inside, but it was so old that all I did was chip the outside of the screw

The women of the house were screaming at me telling me to calm down when I was perfectly fine. Bored, but fine :D Bob told me to read the book next to the sink but it was all in Chinese...

So something like 20 minutes later I was freed...I left the bathroom and saw my dad drinking tea at the dinnertable. GEE THANKS DAD way to care about your daughter stuck in a toilet LOL though he claimed he was gonna "call 000" but psh.

I went to Paicey's office on Friday after school to ask about the combined concert and she pretty much shot me down, but told me to talk to CJ. I'm gonna harrass the head of social service to help me push for this, but so far my chances of organising this is looking pretty bad. Here's my list of arguments when I go propose this to CJ:

School's 120th birthday, so we should celebrate our relationship with other schools
Benefits students to learn from a larger ensemble
Only 2 rehearsals, so it won't take up a lot of time
Both rehearsals and performance will be held at the other schools so we don't have to worry about booking the hall and opening the school up whatever whatever
Will involve small number of us, maybe 10 (this is a lie)
Will be held after the cathedral service, after production, after midyear exams and before the annual concert in the 2 weeks where nobody has any stress (this has to be confirmed with the other 2 schools but who cares)
In regards to MY wellbeing, I work better when I'm busy (with an A+ to prove it) and I'll never be as busy as I am now with chorals and stuff...

*My dad's interpretation of someone's name is usually wrong so I'm not actually sure if the guy's name is seriously Bob. Last time I met a girl called Laura and I called her Laura every time we met at dinners...few months later I find our her name is actually Lorna and Dad had told me the wrong thing. AWKWARD. Also, I've never heard of a guy my age called Bob...but I said the same thing about the name Fred and then whaddaya know I meet a Fred.

WAY WAY WAYYYY TOO HOT TO GO TO SCHOOL :(

Induction service was today :D I'm officially in year 12 and I have 2 badges to prove it. ha

I had no idea how formal the service was...I pretty much zone out every year when it's the other year 12's but this year I was up on the stage with the rest of the 2010 leaders, in the heat AND under lights :( So we weren't allowed to fan ourselves with our programs even if the rest of the school below us were fanning like crazy. BUUUUT the awesome new AV man plugged in 2 fans on either side of us so it was a bit better :D

The badges are the school crest with a circle of colour around it...all the 12's get a red circle, captains get a silver circle, house captains have gold badges with the house colour circled around it (VERY EW) and school captains have a completely gold badge. APPARENTLY these things cost $30 D: so basically my entire blazer is worth something like half a thousand bucks HAHAHA what a ripoff

I felt bad for the teachers and the councillor wearing their big black gowns, but then I realised IT'S THEIR FAULT OUR SCHOOL HAS NO AIRCONDITIONING! So now I don't give a crap about them :D

House chorals is going well for a change:

We have 3 out of 4 special item songs learnt (but not memorised)
Dance is halfway there and is pretty awesome!
Instrumental is coming along but needs enthusiasm and a conductor?
......Set song and original have not been touched. set song has been touched, but it's all a bit confusing so we moved on to special haaa

...this is CRAZY

I mean I knew year 12 would be a load, but I had no idea it would be THIS MUCH!

It's gotten to the point where I ALWAYS feel unproductive even if I'm doing all my required homework - it's like productivity comes from the EXTRA unrequired work you do...

So on the weekend, I wrote an essay and did all the bits of homework from 4 other subjects and STILL FELT REALLY LAZY!! I don't know what's wrong with me...

I felt accomplished when I finally finished writing our house's original for chorals. but that was the extent of my productivity.

APART FROM THAT HOUSE CHORALS IS TAKING OVER MY LIFE!

I'm gonna be so glad when it's over (but sad because it's over...) cos I can have my life back. For about 2 days, before I get stuck into organising combined concert, rehearsing for production, rehearsing for annual concert, rehearsing for speech night blahblahblah WHEN WILL THIS END!

Also what's with the "Hello you just started school. I'm going to throw 50 sacs in your face, starting with chem. In 3 days! Oh, and I hope you enjoy the week with 2 english sacs, 1 psych sac and 1 jap sac...and if you're REALLY lucky, who knows? I might just give you a methods sac too :D"

So it's time for Year 12 in 2 days D: So here's a list of what scares me:

I'll never wear my regular school jumper EVER again since Year 12's have their own jumper
I can't zone out in the Induction Service next week
I'll NEVER be able to zone out in assembly anymore
Assembly speeches every fortnight... (but funnily enough I'm not scared of the speeches at concerts...just assembly?)
SACs and exams...pfft I'll be scared of that when the time comes haha
I've become the person I used to look up to when I was in year 7.....a role model? aah...
It's the last year ever... :(

I've discovered these holidays that I'm a night person...I'd rather NOT go and have brunch with my mates cos I'm not even awake, but having dinner at a relaxed cafe is the BEST! If only this was asiaaaa and shops were open til 10...and if only my parents weren't so oooold and could pick me up from people's houses at 3am :(

Sam&Tam's party was really fun, mostly cos everyone at school I care about was there :) so it was good to see them all, eat food and dip chips into the wrong dips (Viv). There was some guitar hero, extreme uno, foosball, a piano, loud music and dancing...Lisa and Amanda taught Erika and me their dance from NYSF (who knew they would dance at nerd camp?) and I'm pretty sure I was laughing the whole way through it.

Funniest part was when Min was convinced some guy had a 6 pack and was trying to get him to flash it at us, but then Eric came along and was like I HAVE A 6 PACK and got a texta and drew 6 rectangles on his body...under the belly button? HAHA.

Erika made an amazing gingerbread house for them and it tasted sooo goood! Viv's Ronaldo soccer jersey cake also tasted amazing but after diving it into about 30 slices, Eric said it looked like diarrhea with blood in it =_____________= and he HAD to say that when it was in my mouth...ahh :( So at the end of the night I had consumed WAY too much sugar and now my skin has suffered the consequences...I also took like 3 photos, so I'm relying on someone elses camera for photos of that amazing gingerbread houseee!

Bridge Rd with Steph and Susan today :) Went to Steph's place first and Chris had a WHOOOLE bunch of friends over...that kid has grown up wayyy too quickly! We left the house before all of them did, but ended up waiting at the tram stop for half an hour, and the rest of them caught up to us by the time the tram came. I didn't buy anything (because I'm broke and I'm leeching off mum) but had a good browse anyway...probs gonna go back to help Lisa look for formal dresses soon :)

We ended up in the city, took some photos at photoworld (it bothers me that there's 5...the OCD in me wants to fill that last gap argh)

I really don't know what to expect this year...I kinda thought I'd be chained to the desk these holidays but I'm still lacking the motivation I never had. Final year's meant to be all WHOA STUDY (for asians) but I am SO ready for the other stuff yknow? Celebrating achievements, 18th parties, concerts and stuff...I DUNNO I JUST WANT ALL THE WORK TO BE OVER but I don't want any of the other things to enddd :(

SUPER annoyed right now

So this is my final year right? The year to make the best out of, the year to knuckle down and study for a number that'll define your future, my last year of childhood and the best year of my life (or so I hope)

RIGHT so every year I do some sorta thing for charity, and I decided (with Viv) that I would do the World's Greatest Shave and actually shave my hair off and raise a few thousand bucks for an amazing cause. After psyching myself out deciding on a good time of the year (after formal...but unfortunately before the Annual Concert, yearbook photos, Jazz Soiree, my 18th and various other 18ths and blahblah), figuring out how long it'd take for hair to grow back, weighing up the pros and cons of being bald...we decided to make it a "public" shave during school assembly so that we could get a donation from everyone at school pretty quick, seeing as we got over $8000 in a week for the bushfires

but guess what...we both asked our parents and both got a flat out "NO"

My "NO" is so definate I was almost in tears after arguing...Dad thinks I'll look like a rebellious streetkid and Mum just doesn't like the look and thinks I have "too many public appearances" this year (what, the annual concert??). NEITHER understand the point of doing this =____= They think there's other ways I can donate to charity, but how else will I raise at least $1000?? Doing a charity run means I donate $30, 40hr famine means begging everyone to give me money (if of course, my parents let me do it =__=)

I dunno, it's just impossible to explain WHY I wanna shave my head...its just I don't wanna go through life the boring way, and a bit of empathy for those who don't have it all that great would be a good experience yknow?? Eauhghh now my reasoning sounds kinda selfish...I told the folks I didn't care what being bald looked like to others, and mum was like "So why do you do your hair before you go out?"

IT'S DIFFERENT LIKE THAT =__= PLUS IF IM BALD I DONT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO TO MY HAIR BEFORE I GO OUT

If I don't do it this year...what, I do it 1st year uni? There's no way I can raise as much money in uni as I could in school...and in school it's like a community of people who'll all know what you did and not judge you, but in uni there's thousands of people who are ready to wtf at you (I know I'm contradicting myself by saying I don't care what people think of my bald head...). 2nd year uni I wanna study overseas and that's even more wtfing...and 3rd year uni means my whole family + family friends will be pressuring me to "get a boyfriend already!!" HAHAHA so yeah. don't think a dude would appreciate a bald girlfriend.

Met up with Corrinne and Bhavisha from my old school today :D I was gearing myself up for an awkward hangout but it was so fun and we just talked for 3 hours over Gloria Jeans and sushi...reminscing about the old days when vce didn't exist :) and wondering what the hell happened to x y and z etc...............

Ayano got swine flu so right now I7m with my 2nd girl called Misa :D Had a lot of fun with her these days, we went to a game centre, did some shopping and we:re going to Disneyland tomorrow! Her dad and little brother speak English fairly well so I'm feeling less language tired these days :)

But physically tired? Um hell yes...sleeping on a futon isn[t too comfortable, and theres a lot of walking around every day. PLUS they go to school on Saturday WHAT THE HELL!

It:s been a crazy trip and excuse my typing because these keyboards arent exactly what I:m used to and I can:t be bothered finding the apostrophe....

Day 1 was Tokyo Tower, Asakusa and Harajuku - basically A LOT OF SHOPPING! I bought a pikachu plushie, a frog coin purse (cos you gain coins like crazy over here), a new bag (the one I brought here... the zip kinda died), 2 voodoo doll keyrings (maybe for friends) and a realistic looking donut keyring :D

Today was school and meeting our host girls, my girl is really sweet! Her mum is really lovely as well, both very patient with my crap Japanese...their house is also HUGE compared to what I imagined! They have the most adorable sausage dog called Cookie who runs around the house wearing a jumper and opening the sliding doors with his face HAHA. her younger sister has swine flu and the dad is in Germany so the mum is mostly upstairs looking after the younger sister, and I:m all alone on the bottom floor in a room to myself :) Ayano and I did a bit of timtam slamming, which she found difficult LOL...and dinner was also awesome, purple potato wth!! It tasted sooo good, and so did everything else. I felt bad for telling my host mum that I dont eat fish and prawn (but i eat sashimi and tempura) but hopefully that saved her from cooking me things I don:t like
